-
- Actually Win95 is NOT a 32-bit OS. Has some 32-bit features like disk
- and printing modules, but essentially remains mostly 16-bit.
-
- As for running 32-bit apps, NT can run anyhting 95 runs. Inorder to
- have the coveted "Runs on Windows 95" sticker, software vendors are
- required by Microsoft to make it runnable on NT. So all the 95
- versions of Microsoft Office now run on NT as well as 95.
-
- NT is just much more efficient in terms of memory use than 95. You can
- access up to 4GB of memory all in one plne as opposed to the
- memory-paging mechanism in 95. Sure it requires 16Mb or even 32MB to
- run, but Win 3.0 used 4Mb when 640K was standard in PC's with DOS.
